The Merchandise Planner develops and executes merchandise financial plans to achieve financial targets and maximize business results through effective and timely pre-season and in-season management of designated categories.


  • Executing against seasonal financial plans that meet or exceed company financial objectives for sales, margin, inventory, and bottom line profitability
  • Partnering with Merchandising teams to execute the quarterly buy plan
  • Managing in-season processes to maximize financial outcomes for the season, including repositioning of pricing and the Open to Buy process
  • Executing monthly reforecasting at the style / color level; identifying and making recommendations to address under or over stock positions
  • Managing and executing promotional and clearance pricing to optimize results by business need
  • Organizing, interpreting, and preparing data for presentation in key business meetings
  • Actively participating in business meetings to influence strategy and drive results in your categories
  • Analyzing current business, historical results and market trends to proactively identify risks, opportunities, and creative solutions to maximize business results
  • Building effective cross-functional relationships and skillfully navigate to influence business decisions




  • 3-5 years of experience in Merchandise Planning or a comparable planning function, specialty retailer preferred
  • Proficient in Excel
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to apply knowledge of business strategy to achieve successful outcomes
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to effectively influence and negotiate
  • Ability to present to senior leadership
  • Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant merchandise planning experience
