Overview

Are you a fabric nerd? Do you like to work with fabric and help Designers find the best materials for their creation?

 

We are looking for an individual to support the development and execution of the materials strategy to meet design vision, merchant requirements and Company financial goals. Lead the development of materials for specific categories as assigned and provide support to Manager to execute resourceful, cost effective and innovative materials and/or trim development across all channels.

 

 

 

Responsibilities

 

 

Core Accountabilities:

  • Manage material development and analyze costs to ensure adherence with establish seasonal cost targets and guidelines
  • In partnership with Design, ensure material development and final execution achieve seasonal direction
  • Deliver innovative, cost effective, perfectly executed materials for assigned categories, across all channels
  • Be the expert - actively research and stay on top of trends to ensure Eddie Bauer is at the forefront of the marketplace. Make recommendations on findings
  • Identify new materials to meet the design intent and merchant requirements- make recommendations to the Materials and Design teams
  • Manage material development process to adhere to company calendar and consistently meet deadlines
  • Proactively address quality issues in partnership with QA and establish new performance specifications
  • Manage materials library for in-line and inspiration materials
  • Participate in meetings with overseas mill’s and suppliers as needed

 

 

 

Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Detailed technical knowledge of all material development categories and critical applications
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to influence and collaborate with all levels of the organization
  • Experience in overseas travel and working directly with Mills

 

Education & Experience Required:

  • 4 year college degree
  • 3 years experience in fabric and trim development, preferably for an active/outdoor retailer
